Rosalie is continuing to into uncharted territory--between going #2 on the potty, putting away her own plate after dinner, and pouring her own water to drink, she's pretty grown up!
We went last week to Idaho to visit Grandmama and Papa Stan's farm, which also included a time for Michael and me to slip off for a couple nights to celebrate our five year anniversary. We missed her so much but had a lovely time. Anyway, we all enjoyed our time at the farm.
Rosalie had her first fishing trips (with Stan doing the casting and reeling) and was wildly successful. Though the fish were small, she caught at least five of them both times. She caught more fish in two trips than I have in my life. How do I feel about that? Anyway. After she had caught her fourth fish, we asked her how many she had caught and she said, "Eleven!" After that mathwork, Stan said she'd be a good fisherman.
Maps: That girl loves her maps. We have a couple laminated fold-up maps in the car, and on the trip over to Idaho, she amused herself for a shockingly long time with the map, tracing paths and narrating or singing, or identifying spots where all her friends live. Turns out her friend Tyler lives at the University of Washington.
Here are some of the cows. Mom & Stan asked Rosalie to name two of them--so the one on the right is "Callie" --which we loosely interpreted from what I think was actually "Cowie." And the adorable teeny one on the left is called "The Boy." We had to urge this out of her because she wanted to call the second calf Cowie too.
After her time at The Farm, Rosalie seemed to know even more about veggies in the garden than before. She had spent a lot of time harvesting lunch with Grandmama, so as soon as she came home, she seemed to spend a lot of time looking around our beds. The other day she was in the backyard and shouted, "Onions!" Sure enough, we do have onions and leeks in one of the backyard beds. So cool. She is quite good at picking veggies; Grandmama can agree with this. It's very motivating to keep our garden going!
At the moment I can't think of much more to report, even though there's something new and funny/adorable/amazing/interesting every day. Mostly we just enjoy playing with her, snuggling with her, and talking with her--and hearing everything she has to say!
