South Caribbean
Okay, there's no getting around it. Our trip to the Caribbean was great, and there were lots of pictures. So this is a bit of a slide show of how things went. That's right, a slide show from our vacation. I promise I won't do this again (much). Haha. But how many times does a family get to visit tropical islands, anyway??? It was a big deal for us. So, hope you enjoy the slide show.
This is Grenada. Such beautiful colors on this island!
We saw a great band playing at Grenada and we did a little dancing.
In case you didn't know, cruise ships are huge.
Ahoy. Our pirate had an amazing time at "Kids' Club" where the kids would beg to go. Kids' Club also happened in the evening while the parents continued to enjoy their dinners, go dancing, stroll the deck and look at stars. On this night, Rosalie and her friends did a treasure hunt with the teachers all over the ship.
St. Lucia was gorgeous in spite of the rainy weather. We're used to clouds and rain--no big thang.
At our assigned spot for dinners we shared a table with a few families, including a lovely family from Puerto Rico. We wound up going to the beach with them one day. Their son enjoyed teaching us lots of Spanish.
More Kids' Club fun. Superhero night.
Dressing up for dinner!
A truly wonderful cabin steward named Amelia, who wasn't even in charge of cleaning our room, developed a sweet relationship with Rosalie, who joyfully skipped up and down the hallway, passing by the room(s) Amelia was working. Amelia talked to Rosalie every time she passed, asking her questions about herself. She found out that Rosalie goes to Berry Patch and started calling Rosalie a "Little Strawberry" and "Strawberry Rosalie." On the last night, she delivered some treats to Rosalie, including chocolate covered strawberries (she had asked her a few nights before if she might like such a thing). That lovely woman Amelia has no idea how great she made our stay there. I send her love wherever she is. I wish we'd gotten a picture of her, but here are the treats she gave to Rosalie.
Thanks to Kids' Club, Michael and I even got a few daytime "dates" ourselves, including a jaunt to a beach on St. Croix. This was our "Corona commercial" moment.
Hanging out in the room with "surfer baby penguin" made at Kids' Club.
The kids of the families we had dinner with each night!
Slaphappy moment in the midst of day-long airline travel.
We will never travel red-eye flights again. Good lesson!
All in all a wonderful trip with sweet memories.
