Civilized Baby

This pic exemplifies one of Rosalie' signs of development that I find precious. She likes to feed other people, such as her friend Fiona. I love to watch her face while she does it. Here you can see her working on her aim while also trying to coax Fiona to open her mouth by demonstrating.

Then there's the hospitality. When other babies come over to our house, she will often bring them one of her toys, especially if they are seeming shy or unsure.

The Evolution of Rosalie advances forth. A couple days ago I handed her something, and I swear she said the words "Thank you." Clearly she's noticed that we thank her for everything she hands us, including the just-folded-then-mysteriously-unfolded towel, a chewed-up cracker she changed her mind about, and trash. Man, these people are grateful about everything. Might as well go along with it.

We are proud of our civilized person. Even when she's being a cave baby.

Tiptoe Through the Tulips

Rosalie is very cute with the flowers. Somehow we were able to teach her that ALL flowers are off limits for picking, even dandelions. So she just points to flowers, sometimes gently touching them. Well, she actually tried to squish a tulip today. But come on. Tulips are so squish-able.

Here are a couple more cute pics from this session.

WE HAVE A WINNA!

OLE!

By the way, I had to back-post a couple of entries; see below. The pics were there, but the mommy was not available for blogging.

Easter Magic

It was rainy on Easter, so after dinner Daddy pulled out that magic bullet, The Bubbles. The day was saved.

Spanky the Cat

Seems like a lot of Rosalie's favorite things start with the letter B. Bubbles ("Buh buh!"), birdies ("Buh!"), boats, ("Bo!"), books ("ook!") and of course her teddy bears ("Beh!").

But then, there's Spanky. (Okay, it's usually "Bo?")

Rosalie loves Spanky so much that every morning she's at the front door, holding a shoe, pleading for freedom. What can we do? It's a good thing we are friendly with our neighbors, Spanky's owner. Because Rosalie likes to spend as much time as possible in front of kitty's house, catching up on old times and working on gentle petting.

Bada Boom

Michael and I were goofing around last night with Rosalie, and we were saying "Bada Bing, Bada Boom" with expressions much too exaggerated for the mafia. Rosalie would respond by saying "Ba ba ba" and then silently scrunch her lips (as shown), for the "boom" part.

Tooth #5 has arrived! Bottom right. This would explain last week's grumpfest.

By the way, note that Rosalie's face is healing nicely from her face plant on the sidewalk the other night. She loves, loves, loves to take walks. Although she does take the occasional pitstop for flowers, rocks, dogs & cats, mostly she seems to just love her freedom, jogging along at a brisk clip with a happy humming sound.
