Let Her Eat Cake

Today was the final installment of celebrations for Rosalita's first birthday. It culminated in the age-old ceremonial cake mask. More than actually eating, Rosalie mostly enjoyed learning the physics of frosting.

Rosalie's First Birthday

Rosalie had a great day today! Michael took the day off work, and we started the day with brunch at the Original Pancake House. Rosalie also got to visit Golden Gardens Beach to swing on the swings (brrr...), play at the toddler gym, and even go out again this evening for sushi! She eats gyoza, not raw fish, of course. All in all a fun day.

Whistler

We went to Whistler, BC, this weekend with Michael's work. The work part was low-key, like a retreat, so the family had a nice amount of time to play together. Somehow we only got a couple of pics the whole weekend, and they were of Rosalie doing one of her favorite things at our rental condo: playing with the banister on the stairs (we were always right behind her, of course). By the end of our time there she could use the banister to take sideways steps down the stairs. Wow! Rosalie had a chance to play in the snow, went to storytime at the library, and frolicked in the water at an indoor toddler pool. Mike and I each had a chance to do our own thing too--snowboarding and snowshoeing and spa-ing. Overall, a lovely time!
