Barrettes

Rosalie's Grandmama brought some accessories over to our house on her last visit, and our little cutie has loved them. In particular she's enjoying the barrettes.

When I put some in her hair, she asks, "More?" Apparently she's really into the layered look.

School

Rosalie's first day of school was last week. This picture is of Rosalie almost out the door--and I said, "Hey, Rosalie, we're going to your first day of SCHOOL!" and she cheered. This is a pic of that moment!

She has been enjoying the preschool coop very much, and so have I. It's the kind of setup where the parents go as well, and they volunteer/supervise/clean/learn also. And, well, I like school too. So it's been great fun!

Rosalie's taken to it like a duck to water. She's getting along with the other kids, and following directions with great enthusiasm. Example: The Hello Song greets each kid by name and tells them to stand up so everyone can clap for him/her. Everytime they say hello to a kid and tell the kid to stand up, Rosalie stands up, too. So on Monday she stood up about 14 times during the course of the song. Oh, how I wish I could sneak a videocamera in there to document the cuteness.

The Letter O

Rosalie is really into the letter O. Everywhere we look, there it is. When we pass by a sign or read books, she points them out and says "O!" or, if there are more than one, "Ozh!" (plural of o, with a soft zh sound").

But it doesn't stop with text. Anything round is an "O," and she will happily identify it for you. I told her babysitter Rachel about it one afternoon, and Rachel said, "Oh, that's why! She picked up a bottle cap on the playground and kept saying 'O! O!'"

So naturally, she is loving the song Old Macdonald right now, because she has the opportunity to sing "ee-i-ee-i-OOOOOOOOOOO" and we draw it out for a couple of beats to get the full juice out of it. I've been trying to capture her saying that Old Macdonald OOOOO because it is sooooooo cute.

This shot is from one of our "Old Macdonald" photo shoots--with puppets! It was a special song that included Tiggers on the farm. I haven't captured the OOOOO moment yet, but it's not ooooover yet.

Mud

We have many, many, (many, many, many) muddy days with Rosalie. Here, Rosalie enjoyed one of those days with her buddy Owain. Between the two of them they brought about a square yard of sand inside with them. Emergency bathing procedures commenced. You can see the remnants of their good time on their angelic faces.
